Description
Lets approved employers sponsor skilled workers to fill genuine shortages. Streams include Short-term, Medium-term, and Labour Agreement.
Eligibility
- Approved sponsor nominates a genuine, full-time role.
- Occupation on the relevant list for the chosen stream (or under a labour agreement).
- Relevant skills/experience and any required skills assessment.
- Meets English, health and character requirements.
- Market salary and labour market testing (where required).
Key Steps
- Confirm stream and occupation; employer becomes/uses an approved sponsor.
- Employer lodges nomination with evidence of market salary and role genuineness.
- Applicant gathers documents (skills, experience, English) and lodges visa.

Employer-Sponsored (Regional)
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Subclass 494)
Description
Provisional regional visa for skilled workers nominated by an approved employer in a designated regional area. Pathway to PR via subclass 191.
Eligibility
- Approved employer nominates a regional position.
- Relevant occupation and (usually) a positive skills assessment.
- Generally 3+ years relevant work experience and under age threshold (exemptions may apply).
- Meets English, health and character requirements.
- Commitment to live and work in a designated regional area.
Key Steps
- Employer becomes/uses an approved sponsor and lodges the nomination.
- Applicant obtains skills assessment (if required) and evidences experience/English.
- Lodge visa; after grant, meet regional residence/income rules for PR pathway (191).

Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186)
Description
Permanent residence for skilled workers nominated by an Australian employer. Streams include Temporary Residence Transition, Direct Entry, and Labour Agreement.
Eligibility
- Approved employer nomination for an eligible occupation.
- Meets skills/experience requirements (skills assessment for DE stream).
- Generally under the age threshold (exemptions may apply) with competent English.
- Satisfies health and character requirements.
Key Steps
- Select the right stream (TRT, DE or Labour Agreement) with your employer.
- Employer lodges nomination; prepare skills/English evidence.
- Lodge PR application with supporting documents and complete checks.

Training & Development
Training Visa (Subclass 407)
Description
Temporary visa to undertake structured workplace-based training or professional development to improve skills for your occupation or field.
Eligibility
- Sponsored by an approved temporary activities sponsor and nominated to a training program.
- Genuine need for training that’s tailored and structured.
- Sufficient background/experience to benefit from the training.
- Meets English, health, character, and insurance (OSHC) requirements.
Key Steps
- Sponsor approval (or use an approved sponsor) and lodge nomination outlining the training plan.
- Prepare documents showing your background and training relevance.
- Lodge visa and complete any requested checks.
