Description

Allows international students to study full-time in Australia in an eligible course (CRICOS-registered), with limited work rights and options for course changes/extensions.

Eligibility

  • Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for a CRICOS-registered course.
  • Meets Genuine Student / temporary entrant criteria and English requirement.
  • Sufficient funds, OSHC health insurance, welfare arrangements if under 18.
  • Health and character requirements; biometrics if requested.

  • Lodge via ImmiAccount; attach GTE/Genuine Student statement and evidence.

Family Members of Student

Student Dependent – Subclass 500

Description

Lets eligible family members (partner/children) of a Student 500 holder apply as combined applicants or as subsequent entrants to live, study (school-age children), and in some cases work, while the primary student studies.

Eligibility

  • Primary applicant holds/applied for Student 500 with an ongoing CoE.
  • Relationship evidence for spouse/de facto; birth certificates for children.
  • Funds and OSHC (family cover); school arrangements for school-age children.
  • Health and character requirements; compliance with visa conditions.

Key Steps

  • Decide combined vs subsequent entrant pathway and gather evidence.
  • Lodge online with relationship, funds, and insurance documents.
  • After grant, follow conditions (e.g., work limits linked to student’s course level).

Parent/Guardian of Minor Student

Student Guardian Visa – Subclass 590

Description

Temporary visa for a parent/legal guardian or relative to provide care and support for a Student 500 visa holder who is under 18 (or over 18 in special circumstances).

Eligibility

  • Be a parent, legal guardian, or relative (usually 21+) of the student.
  • Provide accommodation, welfare and other support; show sufficient funds and OSHC.
  • No school-age dependent can accompany you unless they also hold a student visa.
  • Meet health and character requirements and comply with work limitations (no work).
